Body measurement guide

Tips before you Start

Time Needed.  Approximately 15 minutes to take your body measurements.

Tape Measure. You will need a flexible measuring tape. We are happy to receive your measurement details in either centimetres or inches.

A friend to help.  Stand in front of a mirror and have someone on standby to assist you, especially for those back measurements.
Bra or no bra?  Decide whether you will be wearing a bra or no bra with the garment, as your bust level and circumference measurement will change with and without a bra.  If you will be wearing a bra, make sure you wear it when you are being measured.  If no bra, ensure you are at least wearing form-fitting clothing and your regular under garments.

Good Posture. Stand upright in a relaxed position with your feet together. When measuring, breathe normally and make sure the tape is comfortably fitted to the body. Don't suck in your tummy, to avoid a potentially tight fitting garment.

Step-by-Step Guide

Bust (1):  to measure your bust, bring the tape around your back and around to the front. Pull it around the apex (or fullest) point of your bust. It should be aligned parallel to the floor, making a straight, horizontal line across both your front and back.

Waist (2):  your waist is the smallest part of your torso and right underneath your rib cage near your belly button. Make sure the tape is even across the front and back and parallel to the floor.

Hips (3):  your hips are actually around the largest part of your hip area.  Please note, your hips are not at the top of your hip bone.

Bust Apex (4):  to measure bust depth, use the same starting point on the shoulder as your Front - Neck to Waist (6) length, measuring down to the apex of your bust point.

Shoulder Length (5):  measure from the base of your neck right in the middle of your shoulder and along to the tip of your shoulder. If you have trouble determining your shoulder tip, find a garment in your closet that fits well and has a collar and sleeve. Then measure the shoulder length of the garment.

Front - Neck to Waist (6):  Start measuring from the side base of your neck, at the top shoulder line, and going down towards your waist level passing over your bust point. Try to keep the tape as straight as possible.

Back - Neck to Waist (7):  this one is definitely a two person job, so call a friend and have them measure from the nape of the neck, down your spine and to your waist.

Waist to Length (8) - Varies depending on your choice of garment and personal style:  depending on which clothing piece you are ordering these lengths will vary.  For a dress or skirt, measure from your waist down to the point on your leg where you wish the hemline of the dress or skirt to finish, for example: above the knee, on the knee, just below the knee or mid calf length, etc.  For pants or shorts, measure from your waist down to the point on your leg where you wish the pant hemline of the shorts or pants to finish, for example:  mid-calf length, above the ankle (to show-off your shoes) or to the floor if you are wearing high heels, etc. These are all personal styling options.

Crotch Length (9) - Required ONLY if you are ordering pants or shorts: starting from your waist on your back, passing the tape measure through your legs, through to your waist (to your navel) in the front will give you the measurement of your crotch length.  This gives us a base measurement, additionally please let us know where you prefer your pants or shorts waist line to begin, for example: high-waist; mid or low-waist. Simply let us know, starting from your navel where would you like your waist-line to begin in cms or inches, for example:  3cm below navel, etc.  If you have a favourite pair of pants or shorts you may wish to put them on and then take the measurement.

Arm / Sleeve Length (10) - Required ONLY if you are ordering a garment with sleeves:  have your arm just slightly bent, and measure from the tip of your shoulder over the elbow to your wrist line. You will also need a friend for this measurement.  If you wish to order: short, quarter length or three quarter length sleeves, please provide us with the measurement of where you would like the sleeve hemline to finish (ie, starting from the tip of your shoulder).
